Visit the following link of scopus
https://www.scopus.com/sources?sortFiel ... 6b380c333f

1. make sure in the first drop-down menu subject area is selected
2. next to subject area, drop-down menu select the subject area as Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmaceutics
3. Click submit, then it will show all pharmacy related journal of Scopus database

ShriSanghavi wrote: 18 Apr 2020, 12:27 How can a student approach for meta analysis which involves statistical methods for interpretation?
I can understand the difficulty from a student perspective to gain the knowledge and skills to conduct a systematic review. It is not possible just by attending regular classes. Rigorous training and practice are required to be well versed in the systematic review. Currently, there are many online and offline training centers for giving training on systematic review and meta-analysis. One best source for online learning about the systematic review is the Cochrane Interactive Learning (https://training.cochrane.org/interactivelearning). If you can spend the dedicated time, I suggest you to undergo the workshops conducting by the CMC, Vellore (http://www.bvmc.in/events/workshop-on-d ... ic-review/#)
As appositely said by Krishna Sir, rigorous training and practice is required to write a systematic review and a meta-analysis. Hence, students who are enthusiastic in writing a systematic review should firstly identify an expert who is well versed. Involving an expert in the reviewers' panel, can guide the other beginner reviewers in the writing process. As the writing a systematic review or meta-analysis requires an ample amount of time and effort, taking guidance of an expert (until you yourself become an expert), will lead to a productive learning experience.
Furthermore, It should be kept in mind that these reviews are used to prepare guidelines and improve clinical practice. Hence, it should be wholely driven by motivation and sincerity.

Grace Thomas wrote: 19 Apr 2020, 13:47 When using questionnaires in the project, how accurate are these questionnaires to analyse the resulting data? And also Is it better to use a yes or no questionnaire or a scoring questionnaire?
Hi Grace,

I request you to go through the questionnaire #3992

By checking the validity and reliability of a questionnaire, you will understand how accurate to use that questionnaire for the specific study.

The use of closed ended (Yes/No) or open scoring questionnaire purely depends on the outcome which you want to measure.

I will give an Example (hypothetical):
If you want to know the risk factors for COPD and you planned to collect only the factors, you can go for Yes or No: Like Smoking (Yes/No); Cough (Yes/No); Asthma (yes/No); History (Yes/No)

Whereas, you want to study the extend of smoking and risk of COPD, need to use scale: Like How many cigarettes per day (1 to 10); How many packets per day (1 to 5); How often (Rare, occasionally, always)

Otherwise you want to check the pain or quality of life etc., always you need to use scoring questionnaire.

Depends on the study question and outcome.

Hope you are clear with the concept :-)

Brighton gabriel wrote: 19 Apr 2020, 13:49 How to estimate sample size for genetic polymorphisms studies in type 2 diabetes mellitus? :-)
Hi Brighton,

As per my understanding and discussion with a statistician before regarding the similar concern, I got to know that:

Convenient sampling will be used for genetic studies, which depends on the availability of sample, availability of method to explore the polymorphisms, availability of resources and availability of budgets.

Some Scenarios:
Suppose, you have 200 sample and you do not have budget to test that many, then you take the sample how many possible with your budget.

You have the money, but you do not get that many samples, take how many you can.

You have sample and money, but not have resource (Ex: RT-PCR) to do that many sample, take how many you can.

So, this all matters. So, always we go for convenient sampling for genetic studies as far as my knowledge.

greeshma_1997 wrote: 19 Apr 2020, 12:55 In studies which include psychiatric patients is it necessary to obtain consent from both patient as well as the care taker??
Always better to take if possible, but do not put yourself in risk while you approach the patient. Moreover, It depends on the disease condition on which you work and what your ethical committee mandate. You can have a discussion on this with your IEC Secretariat while you take the ethical approval.

Not only in this case but also in many cases, this kind of issues has to be discussed with your concerned IECs as each one gives different perception on this.

As aptly pointed out by Mohammed Rashid Sir, case by case issues has to be discussed with the local IEC.

But generally, ICMR ethical guidelines for health research involving human participants states that 'presence of a mental disorder is not synonymous with incapacity of understanding or inability to provide informed consent'. And hence psychiatric disorders as such does not fulfill the criteria for consent waiver.

Kamal Rathinam wrote: 19 Apr 2020, 13:50 How do I choose a proper journal to publish our research paper?
Hi Kamal,

There are many ways to find out the best suitable journal.

1. There are many journal finders for all different publishers
Ex: Elsevier (https://journalfinder.elsevier.com/); Wiley (https://journalfinder.wiley.com/search?type=match)

2. Look for similar studies which are published before

3. Look for the references you cited

Finally, once you choose the journal for publication, look for it's scope, area and type of articles they accept.

Hope This will satisfy you :-)

Oorvashree wrote: 19 Apr 2020, 14:09 How many articles are accepted for systematic review and meta analysis at a minimum?
There is no rules like that. You can publish a systematic review with zero studies also and Cochrane published a paper with zero studies.

Systematic review is purely depends on the way how you performed, not what is your final outcome.

Please look to this paper, it is a cochrane review with zero studies. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6457802/)

poojitha wrote: 19 Apr 2020, 14:27 How to differentiate a systematic review from narrative review?
Systematic review will have an explicit methodology, which include the unbiased way of setting up a proper research question, comprehensive literature search, study selection and data extraction, methodological quality assessment and synthesis of evidence (Narrative or quantitative) which will not be available in a narrative review.

Shalini1697 wrote: 19 Apr 2020, 13:05 How does communication impact the health care sector?

However, it is not specifically related to the topic which is planned to discuss today. I would like to add that, communication plays a major role in healthcare practice in all aspects which started from patient admission till the discharge and thereafter.

You could read this systematic review which will give more insights towards your query.
