A Chennai study on 2008 and 2009 cost reports found that INR 4.493 (USD 92.15) total costs for non-complicated patients are compared with INR 14.691.75 (USD 301.32) for complications patients.

If you had diabetes for five years, you would have spent about Rs 1,50,000 on diabetes treatment alone.

After 10 years, you would have spent Rs 4,000,000 and after 20 years, you would have spent Rs 15,000,000. The increase in time costs is due to the increase in complications.
