If you are taking long acting insulin - Take it 15 to 30 minutes before meal

If you are taking short acting insulin - Take it 15 minutes before meal

Examples of Long acting insulin

Detemir
Glargine
Degludec

Examples of short acting insulin

Aspart
Lispro
Glulisine
